Partner Profile - Tiffany Provence
Tiffany Provence joins Provence Messervy, LLC after more than 10 years of serving Dorchester County as the Probate Judge and an additional two as Associate Judge. Provence is a graduate of the University of Florida and University of South Carolina School of Law. In addition to serving as an Elected Official, Provence has also served as legal counsel and President for the Frances R. Willis SPCA, Secretary for the Dorchester County Bar, Advisory Counsel to the South Carolina Supreme Court, and Executive Committee for the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges.
Tiffany currently serves on the Board of Directors for Sculpture in the South and enjoys writing for local

Episcopal church. He is also an avid supporter and sponsor of Children in Crisis, the Summerville YMCA, Summerville Soccer Club, and the Citadel Brigadier Foundation. Jim is very active in children’s athletics and is compassionate about addressing children’s needs in the family law context where he has handled hundreds of cases. Messervy brings more than 30 years of legal experience and community ties to the firm. Jim’s practice areas include Criminal Law, Family Law, Family Court Mediation, and Personal Injury.
Messervy was born and raised in Summerville, SC. He has three grown children and three grandchildren.
Jim Messervy joins Provence Messervy, LLC after more than 25 years of serving Dorchester County as both an Assistant Solicitor and Magistrate Judge, both of which prepared him for an active criminal defense practice. Jim, a graduate of the Citadel and the University of South Carolina School of Law, has also served the community as attorney for the Town of Ridgeville, President and Legal Counsel for the Frances R. Willis SPCA, and a member of St. George’s
newspapers and websites on legal, community interest and travel topics. She is currently a Professor at both the Charleston School of Law and Trident Technical College. Her classes and lecture topics include Probate, Wills & Trusts, Legal Ethics, Fiduciary Administration, and Mediation & Negotiation. Provence holds dual certifications in Civil and Family Court Mediation. Provence has started an online blog to help families and other attorneys with issues in the Probate Court, learn more here.
Tiffany has two children and is a lifelong resident of Summerville, South Carolina.
Associate Profile -David Causey
David Causey joined Provence Messervy in 2008 after serving as the Law Clerk for the Dorchester County Probate Court. David is a graduate of the Charleston School of Law and a lifelong resident of Summerville. Prior to attending law school, David was a teacher for Dorchester School District II where he taught English.
David’s practice areas include probate administration, estate planning and issues involving real property. David practices in Dorchester, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton and Orangeburg Counties.
